- Before we begin we need to ensure VirtualBox is installed on the bot you are working on
- This assumes it is installed
- This was tested using Oracle Virtualbox 6.1 on Windows 10
Actions
- Click on new
- Use Guided or Expert Mode
- Choose a name, and type and version
- Name: such as OracleLinuxPlayMachine
- Notice the type and version may auto update as you type this
- Click
create
- Choose a hard drive on the next box
Setting up
- Once you have your VM, you will most likely need an operating system iso to boot into.
- Once you have the iso, align this onto the virtual CD Drive device on the virtual machine.
- Right click on VM, and choose settings from right click menu
- Under system, unclick Floppy disk, because lets be honest no one ever usese these anymore, and they Oracle VirtualBox primary boot option by default.
- As the Hard drive is what you will want to boot into eventually and on an initial install it is mostly blank, tick this and put this first
- Then click Optical and make that the second choice
